Legendary vocalist Jon Hendricks has said of her, “Jazzmeia has one of the best voices I've heard in forty years.” Indeed it is so and this is why this fantastic singer and songwriter, born in Dallas, Texas, won “The Thelonious Monk Institute International Jazz Competition” in 2015 and has been compared to Sarah Vaughan, Betty Carter and Nancy Wilson In 2017 she released her first album, “A Social Call”, on the Prestige label, one of the most prestigious in the history of jazz, a great album, which reached number one and earned her first Grammy Award nomination in 2018.
