Singer, trumpeter, dancer, composer and actor; Chantz Powell is one of the most interesting artists in the new generation of musicians out of New Orleans, the cradle of jazz. With a mix of influences from the schools of several generations of American musicians, Chantz is something like Sammy Davis Jr. combined with Usher. When he was sixteen he signed a contract with Decca/Universal Records and recorded the extraordinary album Stories of Me where unleashed his great talent. Jazz San Javier has invited him to Spain to perform with prestigious band from Barcelona Shakin’ All, one of the most brilliant and dynamic bands in Spain in the musical genre which falls somewhere between Swing, Rhythm & Blues and Rock ‘n’ Roll. It will be a very rhythmic night with high caliber musicians, with plenty of dance and joy to go around.
