  Giovanni Mirabassi Trio
Based now in Paris, Italian pianist, Giovanny Mirabassi is a self-taught musician, who learned by listening to Bud Powell, Art Tatum, Oscar Peterson and, mostly, Enrico Pieranunzi, who he considers to be his greatest influence. His style is refined and romantic, similar to other Italian pianists like Stefano Bollani or Danilo Rea, but in addition, Pieranunzi is also comfortable with the standards of American jazz. His latest album, Adelante, is as beautiful as his historic Avanti, and in it he displays his exquisite sensibility in interpreting the great songs of Latin American heritage.

  Renegade Creation (Michael Landau, Robben Ford, Jimmy Haslip and Gary Novak)
One of the best super groups emerged in years in Jazz-Rock fusion, Renegade Creation, combines the extraordinary talent of two of the best guitarists in the world, Michael Landau and Robben Ford, with one of the best and most spectacular rhythm sections imagined, which includes electric bass wizard Jimmy Haslip, bassist for the Yellowjackets, and the spectacular drummer Gary Novak, once member of Chick Corea’s Elektric Band. With a self titled album, the members of this super group elevate blues-rock to the highest level, with a sophistication and virtuosity which foreshadow and impressive live performance; a true feast of good music for any aficionado.

  Tingvall Trio
Since it's beginnings, Jazz San Javier has always invested in European jazz musicians who have offered us great performances throughout the history of the festival. Among them we can highlight Swede pianist Martin Tingvall's trio, who performed for the first time in Spain in our festival in a concert in which he, and the two members of his trio, Omar and Jürgen connected with the public after just a few notes. The following year they were able to repeat their success performing in Músicas del Alma, and we are sure they will succeed again this year when they present their new album Vagen, the fourth one in this fantastic trio's career, whose presence in the 15th anniversary of the festival was unavoidable.

  Jorge Salan and Guests
Recognized by most of the critics in our country as the best Spanish rock guitarist, Jorge Salan is a reference for guitarists and rock lovers. He was lead guitarist for the group Mago de Oz for four years, and now he embarks on a solo career as a standard bearer for high level rock sung in Spanish. An admirer of Ry Cooder, Steve Vai and Gary Moore, he will debut in Jazz San Javier to present his new album Sexto Asalto, leading an extraordinary band with some guest musicians who will add even more interest to this concert.

  Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson “Thick As A Brick 1 & 2”
Ian Anderson, known worldwide as the leader, singer and flute player for the legendary group Jethro Tull, will celebrate his 44 years as a musician in 2012 with a tour, in which the group's masterpiece, the long remembered album Thick As A Brick, will be performed live in it's entirety for the first time since the year 1972. They will also perform their latest album a sequel to Thick As A Brick, and some of their greatest hits. Jazz San Javier is honored to offer all fans their first performance in Spain for this tour, and to welcome a living legend of progressive and folk rock.

  Frank Harrison Trio + Alyth McCormack
Frank Harrison's trio and Scottish singer and actress Alyth McCormack will offer us a novelty for Jazz San Javier, a combination of jazz and folk music. For many years Frank Harrison was the pianist in saxophonist Gilad Atzmon's group. He is also one of the most promising pianists in the United Kingdom, as can be attested by his albums First Light or Open Secrets, this last one performed alongside Alyth McCormack and several British and Spanish poets. Alyth McCormack, possesses an angelical voice and is probably the best Celtic folk and traditional Scottish music singers. She is also the usual female voice for the Chieftains when they are on tour.

  John Hiatt
A living rock legend, John Hiatt is a composer, guitarist, and pianist who has displayed his mastery for more than three decades. He has cultivated the most diverse styles, from New Wave, Blues to Country, although currently he performs a sober and highly emotional rock, which places him among the most respected and influential American singer-songwriters. His extensive discography has generated several classics, which have been covered by Bob Dylan, Willy DeVille, Linda Ronstadt, Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Willie Nelson, Joan Baez, Aaron Neville, Nick Lowe and Joe Cocker, amongst many others.

  Tom Harrell Quintet
One of the most prestigious trumpet players and composers in contemporary jazz, Tom Harrel has a very peculiar style. It is frequently said, he combines the strength of Clifford Brown with the lyricism of Chet Baker. He forged his style playing with great musicians like Woody Herman, Horace Silver, Bill Evans, Lee Konitz and Phil Woods. In spite of his long fight with schizophrenia he has become one of the most influential trumpet players of the 21st century. Tom Harrell returns to San Javier to present his new album The Time of the Sun, leading his magnificent quintet, whose previous performance during the 9th edition of the festival left a great impression.

  Dana Fuchs
With an intense presence on stage and a raspy voice unlike any we've heard since Janis Joplin, Jazz San Javier is honored to present to all fans of rock, blues and soul, Dana Fuchs, one of the revelations of the past few years. Raised in Florida, but hardened on the stages of New York, Dana is a phenomenon on stage, in addition to her beauty and sensuality, she gives herself to every performance like her life depended on it, much the same as her band, who are almost as wild as she is. We impatiently await her performance.

  Dayna Kurtz
Dayna Kurtz, is a singer, guitarist composer and writer from New Jersey who lives New York, and has produced a series of formidable albums, and has won the recognition of the critics and the devout admiration of numerous fans throughout the world, evidenced by the fact that her last two albums were financed through donations by her admirers on her artist website. With an impressive voice which at times reminds us of Nina Simone or Betty Carter, Dayna Kurtz wisely mixes elements from jazz, folk and country music. In her debut in Jazz San Javier she will present her new album Secret Canon Vol. 1 a compilation of forgotten jazz and soul treasures from the 50s and 60s, along with some of her best compositions.

  Terri Lyne Carrington “The Mosaic Project”
Special Guest: Dianne Reeves
Drummer, composer and producer Terri Lyne Carrington, has been at the top of the music industry for 25 years, collaborating with giants like Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Al Jarreau, Stan Getz, Joe Sample, Clark Terry, Nancy Wilson, George Duke, David Sanborn, Dianne Reeves and many others. After performing at Jazz San Javier during the third edition of the festival alongside Herbie Hancock, Terri Lyne returns in her best moment, as winner of the 2012 Grammy for The Mosaic Project, a fantastic album with some of the best female instrumentalists and vocalists in the world. An album which she will present in San Javier with a good part of the jazzwomen that participated in the recording, and with a special guest star, the incomparable Dianne Reeves.

  Ximo Tebar & IVAM Jazz Ensemble (featuring Roque Martínez)
The guitarist from Valencia Ximo Tebar is of the most recognized jazz musicians in Spain and with a solid international projection. He has performed with prestigious musicians like Johnny Griffin, Benny Golson, Joe Lovano, Tom Harrell, Tete Montoliu, Lou Bennett, Lou Donaldson, Louie Bellson, Joey DeFrancesco, etc. He is well remembered in San Javier, where he has performed thrice with three very different projects. This year he returns with the IVAM Jazz Ensemble, which includes some very prestigious musicians and an exceptional guest, the brilliant Cuban saxophonist Roque Martinez, who will also present some songs from his latest album Six Hours Later, produced by Ximo Tebar.

  Keb’ Mo’
Born in Los Angeles to parents from the Deep South, the singer, composer, and guitarist Kevin Moore, known as Keb' Mo', is the living link to Delta Blues, which traveled through the Mississippi River and extended it's way across America. A winner of three Grammy Awards, his compositions, in which he opens up blues to other genres like folk-rock and pop have been covered by artists like Joe Cocker, B.B. King, Robert Palmer, Buddy Guy and Tom Jones. In his first visit to San Javier in 2008, Keb' Mo' left some extraordinary memories, offering one of the best blues concerts in the history of the festival. We eagerly await the return of this living blues and guitar legend.

Dorantes Cuarteto
Special guest: Esperanza Fernández
Dorantes’ piano is free, versatile and lively. With his first album Orobroy, a National Critic’s Award winner, he took flamenco to new horizons. With his second album Sur, also a National Critic’s Award winner, he drew closer to orquestral music and his virtous fingers took the piano to a whole new level. Sin Muros, his third album, edited by Universal Music, show us a wise Dorantes with full knowledge that music is an explosion of sanity, a momentary treaty with divinity and the only right answer to certain questions. In his debut in Jazz San Javier, in a quarted format and accompanied by guest artist Esperanza Fernández, one the best voices in new flamenco, Dorantes will prove, with no doubt, why is he one of the most prestigious international Spaniard musician.

  Toquinho
A living legend of the bossa nova, singer, composer and fabulous guitarist, Toquinho is one of the most beloved artists in Jazz San Javier, thanks to his two previous performances in which his music shined as bright as his friendliness and charisma with the public. We admire Toquinho's facet as a composer, which took off with the great worldwide success, "Que Maravilla", composed alongside Jorge Ben. We also admire his collaborations with other artists like Chico Buarque, Francis Hime, Maria Creuza or Sadao Watanabe and, of course, the great Vinicius de Moraes, who marked a milestone in the history of the bossa nova. But above all we admire his absolute dominion of the guitar, an instrument which he has consummately mastered.

Miles Smiles is the title of an album by legendary trumpet player Miles Davis which was edited in 1967 It is also the name of a tribute by some of the world's best jazz musicians, which includes some of his alumni and other artists who performed with the brilliant trumpet player in his many groups. An impressive supergroup with Wallace Roney on the trumpet, Rick Margitza on the sax, Joey DeFrancesco on the Hammond B3 organ, Omar Hakim on the drums, Darryl Jones on the electric bass and Larry Coryell on the guitar. A constellation of jazz stars remembering the music of the great Miles, who is probably smiling, wherever he is.

Five years without Luis is too long for the San Javier Jazz Festival, not only because San Javier has seen some of this Argentinean musical genius’ most brilliant concerts, but also because he is one of our spectator’s most beloved and admired artists. Few will be surprised to learn that our festival considers him to be on the best two or three guitarists in the world, and who is not only a virtuoso, but also a great human being who leaves his mark wherever he goes. In his return he will be joined by two exceptional musicians, pianist José Reinoso and double bass player Horacio Fumero. A concert which represents the pure essence of the San Javier Jazz Festival.

  Travellin’ Brothers Big Band
Throughout history, the great blues musicians have had a close relationship with riversides and deltas. Travellin' Brothers is no exception. Formed in Leioa, Vizcaya, on the shores of the Estuary of Bilbao, they were heavily inspired by the Nervion River and its industrial character. With a trajectory that spans 3 albums and more than 350 concerts, they now offer one of the most ambitious projects in the history of blues in our country, accompanied by a fantastic Big Band, inspired by the classics bands of Count Basie, Duke Ellington or Cab Calloway, and in the modern ones of Brian Setzer or Colin James, featuring wonderful arrangements by Alain Sancho, the saxophonist of the band.

José Luis Gutiérrez Quinteto

José Luis Gutiérrez is one of the most innovative and refreshing musicians in the Spanish scene. His music is passionate, intense and very personal, influenced by Iberian sounds and, when combined with the freedom of improvisation, it creates a particular style known as Iberjazz. His first album Núcleo was considered the Best Jazz Album of the Year in Spain. He has performed and collaborated with masters like Jorge Pardo, Chano Domínguez, Jerry González, Paquito D'Rivera orJavier Colina. For her part, Lucrecia one of the stars of Cuban music living in Spain is a multifaceted artist, singer, composer, actress, and writer. Her song “Cubáname” was selected as the main song for the movie 'Second Skin', directed by Gerardo Vega, with a cast leaded by Javier Bardem, Jordi Mollá and Ariadna Gil. She has performed and collaborated with masters like Chavela Vargas, Paquito D’Rivera, Patato Valdés, Celia Cruz, Manzanita or Lluís Llach.

  Eliane Elias
Brazilian pianist, singer and composer Eliane Elias, several times nominated to the Grammy Awards, has a delicate and sensual musical style, with deep roots in bossa nova and the musical genres of Brazil. All her albums have reached number five on the charts, and some have even reached number 1. In Japan four of her albums were honored with Gold Records, including her last three. In 2007, Something for You, was named Best Vocal Album. In 2008 Eliane Elias was the artist who sold the second most albums in France. For years Eliane has been touring around annually playing at the best jazz festivals in the World and her piano playing style, her wonderful arrangements and her marvelous vocal interpretations have placed her among the giants of jazz and bossa nova music.
