Jazz legend Lou Donaldson is one of the survivors of the golden age of jazz, who still remains active and in splendid form. Leading figure of hardbop, jazz with flashes of blues, but mainly jazz-soul, Lou Donaldson has performed and recorded with other legends such as Art Blakey, Thelonious Monk, Jimmy Smith, Wayne Shorter, Ron Carter, Milt Jackson, Grant Green and Big John Patton. With an impressive discography as a leader, in a career spanning more than five decades, by the end of the 1950s he was already one of the great figures of the prestigious Blue Note record label. Lou debuts in Jazz San Javier with a musical style quartet in which he is already a consummated master. He will be accompanied by accomplished guitarist Randy Johnston, and the Hammond organ virtuoso Akiko Tsuruga. It is a great honor for the festival to present one of the most brilliant saxophonist in jazz history.
