One of the most prestigious trumpet players and composers in contemporary jazz, Tom Harrel has a very peculiar style. It is frequently said, he combines the strength of Clifford Brown with the lyricism of Chet Baker. He forged his style playing with great musicians like Woody Herman, Horace Silver, Bill Evans, Lee Konitz and Phil Woods. In spite of his long fight with schizophrenia he has become one of the most influential trumpet players of the 21st century. Tom Harrell returns to San Javier to present his new album The Time of the Sun, leading his magnificent quintet, whose previous performance during the 9th edition of the festival left a great impression.
