Saturday July 17th
The Cuban pianist, composer and producer Iván “Melón” Lewis, born in Pinar del Río in 1974 and settled in Spain since 1998, after a solid classical training at the National School of Art in Havana, began his career as a professional musician with the singer Isaac Delgado.
In addition to leading his own groups, with which he has participated in some of the best jazz festivals in the world, he has developed a fruitful career in the field of popular music, collaborating, among others, with Ana Belén, Joan Manuel Serrat, Ainhoa Arteta, Mariza, Joaquín Sabina, José Luis Perales, Buika, or Sole Giménez, with whom he has participated in Jazz San Javier in previous editions.
With his spectacular project The Cuban Swing Express and with the Cuban singer Arahí Martínez as a special guest, Iván offers us an audacious combination of traditional themes by Pérez Prado, Lecuona or Benny Moré, with versions of compositions by Herbie Hancock, Michael Jackson or the Rolling Stones, in addition to his own compositions.
