Michael Contat defines Niels Lan Doky as “one of the most convincing disciples of Bill Evans, with a very personal romantic sensibility”. His musical history is impressive, because at fifteen he had already worked with Thad Jones, and, in addition to his group The Doky Brothers with his brother Chris Mihn Doky, he has played with Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen, John Scofield, Gino Vannelli, Pat Metheny, Joe Henderson, Michael Brecker, Dave Sanborn, Randy Brecker, Ray Brown, Charlie Haden, John McLaughlin, Alvin Queen and other great musicians. With 37 albums recorded as a leader, filmmaker with two valuable documentaries directed by himself, "Between a smile and a tear" and "Dreaming with open eyes", Niels is one of the great talents of Danish jazz and a pride for all jazz devotees of the European Union. A great lover of Spanish music and of San Javier, where we have been able to enjoy his performances twice at the Jazz San Javier and once at the “Músicas del Alma” festival, it is an honor to welcome Niels Lan Doky, one of the best musicians of jazz from Europe, with his fantastic trio.
