Sammie “Big Sam” Williams, trombonist, singer, composer, a natural of New Orleans, Louisiana, leads the band Big Sam’s Funky Nation, which combines elements of traditional and acid jazz, with funk and rock. A one time member of another very respected New Orleans band, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Big Sam performed in 2006 with Elvis Costello and Allen Toussaint in his álbum “The River in Reverse” and performed on the international album presentation tour. With seven albums to his name, the last of which is “Feet on the Floor”, in 2015, and a spectacular live show, the band presents the heartbeat of New Orleans and proves with their performances how serious they are about their misión: Keeping Funk Alive.
