One of the most prestigious trombonists in the history of Jazz, Steve Turre joined percussionist Pete Escovedo's salsa band in his youth, marking the beginning of a career in which jazz would blend naturally with Latin music.
His long career has led him to collaborate with stars like Ray Charles, Art Blakey, Thad Jones or Woody Shaw. Later, with Dizzy Gillespie, J.J. Johnson, McCoy Tyner, Herbie Hancock or Tito Puente. Roland Kirk introduced him to the study of the instrument of seashells, an art of which he is considered the indisputable master.
In short, a jazz giant and a trombone virtuoso, which Jazz San Javier has the great pleasure of presenting to fans.
