Conceived in 1993 by producer Arthur Baker and bassist and musical director Lati Kronlund, Brooklyn Funk Essentials is a musical collective that blends funk, acid jazz, hip hop, and neo-soul, with a touch of reggae. By the last decade of the 20th century, the group had become a staple of the New York City club scene.
With seven studio albums under their belt, their songs have been featured in the soundtracks of films and television series such as The Sopranos, Starsky & Hutch, The Blacklist, and countless commercials.
Offering spectacular live energy, the group is a true powerhouse of rhythm, joy, and zest for life—the quintessence of funk. A perfect concert to enjoy on the first Saturday night of the 27th edition of the festival.
