The musical history of Carles Benavent, the most brilliant bassist in Spain and one of the best in Europe, is impressive. In 1975, he founded (with Joan Albert Amargós) Música Urbana, a pioneering Spanish jazz-fusion group.
In 1980, he began a musical relationship with the great Paco de Lucía, with whom he played for over 20 years, performing concerts all over the world and recording five albums. With Camarón de la Isla, another great flamenco legend, he recorded four albums. In 1982, he began a collaboration with the legendary pianist Chick Corea that lasted until Corea's death and resulted in four albums. Among many others, he also collaborated with Hubert Laws, Steve Gadd, Michael and Randy Brecker, and Pat Metheny.
On his return to Jazz San Javier, Carles is accompanied by his usual trio, with pianist Roger Mas and percussionist Toni Pagès, plus Raynald Colom on trumpet and Tomasito on dance and vocals. Four great musicians alongside the best jazz and flamenco bassist in Spain, who will offer us a concert to remember for a long time.
