Channel 7 Region de Murcia will retransmit nine additional concerts from the past edition of the San Javier International Jazz Festival starting on December 20th through to February 14th 2015. The retransmission of all the concerts will take place after the Saturday night movie, and will begin between 11:00 p.m. and 12:30 a.m.

The retransmission dates of the rest of the concerts from the 2014 edition of Jazz San Javier will be announced on a later date.
Next Saturday August 30th, from 10:00 p.m. to 12:00 am, Spanish National Radio's Radio 3 will air a special program dedicated to the 2014 San Javier International Jazz Festival.
The concerts will air between 12:00 a.m. and 01.00 a.m. as part of the Summer Festivals program. The concerts will also be viewable through RTVE's a la Carte section for 15 days after its original broadcast.

The complete program for the San Javier Jazz Festival was announced on May 6th in the San Javier Museum, in the presence of the Mayor, Juan Martínez, the Cultural Councilor, Inmaculada García and the Director of the Festival, Alberto Nieto. The program includes other great musicians like the guitarist Chuck Loeb with a band that includes saxophonist Eric Marienthal, the pianist from Cádiz Sergio Monroy who will pay tribute to Paco de Lucía, to whom the festival is dedicated, the young British soul band, Bassment Project, and singer Lucrecia with the Havana Street Band, and bolero pianist Moncho as a guest artist.
Jazz, Blues and Soul in a festival completed with the previously announced stars like George Benson, Michel Camilo Trio, Freddy Cole, Lucky Peterson, Mary Stallings & Eric Reed Trio, Giovanni Mirabassi with Melanie Dahan, accordionist Marc Berthoumieux, Triosence and Spaniards Lluís Coloma Septeto, Pegasus and Sole Giménez with the Sedajazz Big Band in a tribute to Bebo Valdés.
One of the most awaited dates will be Bobby McFerrin's first visit to San Javier, a magical singer and one of the most popular jazz singers in the world, partly because of the song "Don't Worry Be Happy" which has become an absolute classic. It has been a long time since he has performed with a large band like he will in San Javier where he will present his latest album Spirityouall, a tribute to spiritual American music.
Alberto Nieto announced another awaited visit, Lee Ritenour, a legend of the guitar who will perform with Dave Grusin, one of the greatest living movie soundtrack composers in the world, who composed amongst many others the Academy Award winning soundtrack to the movie The Milagro Beanfield War. In their performance in San Javier they will joined by two other great musicians, electric bassist Tom Kennedy and jazz fusion drummer, Will Kennedy.
The music of New Orleans has sounded in Jazz San Javier on more than one occasion, and this time it will come from none other than Preservation Hall Jazz Band, one of the most important institutions charged with maintaining and promoting the classical style of New Orleans. It is a band with more than fifty years of history whose permanent venue, Preservation Hall, is located in the French Quarter of the city, and which currently has one of its most impressive lineups in its long history.
The Festival Director broke down one by one all the new acts which were announced, and he highlighted the first and only concert in Spain of The Family Stone, which along with Earth, Wind and Fire, was one of the most important soul-funk bands of the 70s. With three of its original members and two new vocalists, the band from San Francisco, maintains the complete repertoire of the famous band Sly & The Family Stone.
Chicago Blues: "A Living History", is actually a festival of its own within Jazz San Javier, according to the Festival Director. The band is formed by ten excellent musicians who rotate into different formations to honor and review all the styles of Chicago Blues.
Along with legends of music, Jazz San Javier counts with emerging artists with contrasted solvency, like the young British formation out of London, Bassment Project formed by ten musicians, who after triumphing with their live performances have recorded their first album, which they will perform in San Javier along with their particular versions of current songs and soul classics.
The vocalist Lucreia had a successful debut in Jazz San Javier, and she returns with an excellent band of Cuban musicians residing in Spain, Havanna Street Band, with guest artist, bolero musician, Moncho, whom she has never performed before in a live concert.
Jazz fusion guitarist Chuck Loeb, an old friend of Jazz San Javier, returns with a spectacular band of musicians, among them saxophonist Eric Marienthal, who once formed part of the Chick Corea Electric Band.
The notable Spanish presence will include the presence of the pianist from Cádiz, Sergio Monroy who will present his new album along with his sextet, and will perform a tribute to his compatriot Paco de Lucia, to whom this year's festival is dedicated.
The extensive program for the 17th edition of the Festival which will be held from July 5th to August 5th, with 13 nights and 22 concerts is completed with the artists which were previously announced during the preview, like fantastic guitarist George Benson, who will present his new album A Tribute to Nat King Cole. Precisely Nat King Cole's brother, Freddy Cole will also perform in Jazz San Javier, where he will receive the Festival Award in acknowledgement of his career.
Michel Camilo returns to Jazz San Javier with his new album What's Up, which won the Grammy Award for best Latin Jazz Album. One of the most notable performances of this edition will be Booker T. Jones's, a key figure of classic soul, who will perform for the first time in San Javier, with a repertoire of classics from his legendary band Booker T. and the MG's, and a second part with soul classics.
The program also includes Lucky Peterson, the "Prince of Blues", and vocalists like Mary Stallings and Eric Reed; French singer Melanie Dahan who will perform with Italian pianist Giovanni Mirabassi; and the Spaniard Sole Giménez who alongside the Sedajazz Big Band will pay homage to Bebo Valdés with music from the film "Chico & Rita".
The Spanish presence is reinforced with blues pianist Lluís Coloma, and the legendary Catalonian group Pegasus. Arriving from France, accordion player Marc Berthoumieux whose quartet will present his album In Other Words, with versions of tracks from Sting or Elton John amongst others. European music, ever-present in the Festival also includes the French group Pink Turtle, and the young German group Triosence, one of the best piano trios of the old continent.
The Mayor of San Javier, Juan Martínez, and the Cultural Councilor, Inmaculada García both highlighted the quality of the program, and thanked the support of the Festival's audience. They also emphasized the hard work of the Festival Director and his team. Juan Martínez reiterated the commitment of the local council in support of the Jazz Festival, and outlined its dynamic role, not only culturally and financially, but also in attracting local tourism.
The Cultural Councilor, Inmaculada García, explained the continuity of the adjusted price policy, which aims to bring jazz to the general public. García, mentioned that the tickets can be bought on Ticketmaster, or in the Festival Offices (+34 968 191568 - +34 968 191588) located in Plaza España, San Javier starting on Monday May 12th, although reservation for tickets and season passes can be made starting on the day of the preentation. The price of the tickets vary from 15 to 18 euros, except for Bobby McFerrin and George Benson which will cost 35 euros each. These two concerts are the only ones not included in the season pass, which include the remaining eleven nights, and has a cost of 120 euros.
The festival which will be held from July 5th to August 3rd and whose promotional image pays homage to the women of jazz, has released a preview of this year's traditional lineup with a very strong presence of jazz, blues and soul..
The Director of the festival, Alberto Nieto, joined by the Mayor of San Javier, Juan Martinez, and the Councillor of Culture, Inmaculada Garcia, presented a preview of the program for the XVII edition of the Festival, which will begin on July 5th with a performance by George Benson, "a living legend of contemporary music, and one of the best guitarists in the history of jazz".
In San Javier, George Benson will present his new album My Inspiration: A Tribute to Nat King Cole, which he recorded with the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra, and the participation of the exceptional Wynton Marsalis.
Another distinguished name on the program which was announced during the presentation which took place at San Javier City Hall, is that of Nat King Cole's brother, Freddy Cole, "one of the still active classic jazz greats", who will receive the San Javier Jazz Festival 2014 Award in acknowledgement of his career. Freddy Cole will come to San Javier after having launched his latest album This and That in 2013, which features interpretations of classic tracks like "Everybody's Talkin'", from the film "Midnight Cowboy".
Michel Camilo, recent winner of a Grammy Award for best Latin Jazz Album for his album What's Up?, which combines latin rhythms with jazz, returns to San Javier where he has been acclaimed on two previous occasions, this time in a trio format.
Booker T. Jones, the leader of the legendary band Bookert T. and the MG's, and one of the key figures of classic soul, will perform for the first time in San Javier, dedicating part of his repertoire to the great instrumental songs popularized by the aforementioned band. In the other part of his performance he will sing some of the great classic soul titles and some songs from his latest albums.
Lucky Peterson, "The Prince of Blues", and one of the most complete artists of the genre, as an organist, guitarist and vocalist, returns to San Javier, which has always displayed a special fondness for the blues, and where he has already left a mark with his electrifying performances.
The great vocalist, and lady of jazz, Mary Stallings, with Eric Reed Trio, Sole Giménez with Sedajazz Big Band, and the French vocalist Melanie Dahan who will form a duo with the Italian pianist Giovanni Mirabasi, are three of the first female stars revealed in this edition, which once again honours the women of jazz in its poster, created by Ramón Torres, which features the image of a female jazz vocalist.
The legendary Catalonian band Pegasus, the magnificent blues pianist Lluís Coloma with his septet, and the Sedajazz Big Band, which will perform Remembering Bebo: The Music of Chico & Rita, alongside Sole Giménez, are three of the Spanish participants revealed by the San Javier Jazz Festival, which, like every year, puts its support behind Spanish jazz.
Jazz San Javier has also historically supported European Jazz, this year's program preview, not only includes the Italian pianist Giovanni Mirabassi, and the French singer Melanie Dahan, but it also features French accordionist Marc Berthoumieux's quartet which will present his album In Other Words, with versions of tracks from Sting, Stevie Wonder, Elton John and Michael Jackson, along with a beautiful mix of French music and jazz.
Also hailing from France is another band which has triumphed at Jazz San Javier, Pink Turtle, which returns with some changes in its lineup of seven musicians, which now will include a female singer. Pink Turtle will continue to present its peculiar interpretations of great songs from rock and pop in a key of jazz, which never fail to win over the audience within the first few minutes of their very entertaining live performances.
The European quota also includes the German band Triosence, one the most solid piano trios in Europe, lead by prestigious pianist and composer Bernhard Schüler.
The complete program will be announced in mid April.
The Mayor of San Javier, Juan Martínez Pastor, highlighted the quality of the Festival's program preview, which this year has increased its budget by ten percent. Martínez reiterated the San Javier City Council's support of the Jazz Festival, and emphasized its cultural, tourist and economic profitability
The Tourism Councillor, Inmaculada García, guaranteed the adjusted price policy of previous years to make jazz accessible to all aficionados, and announced that season pass reservations can be made starting today at the Festival Offices (Tel: +34 968 19 15 68 - +34 19 15 88), as well as tickets reservations for the George Benson concert, which will have a price of 35 euros. García thanked the work of the team which works on the Festival, and the fidelity of its sponsors.
